Ninja Ref

Because I love him, I'm switching him from being a Watership Down OC to an original. I never did much with him in that fandom, anyway. So now he gets to hang with Assassin |D.

Scars:
Along with several minor scars, his most notable features are the scars that frame his right eye. They are the result of his not-quite-quick-enough attempt to escape a wolf’s bite.
He also has a large tear in his right ear, from another wolf attack, wear he was caught and held by his ear. All these wolf encounters have, understandably, made Nin develop a strong phobia of wolves. Even just the scent of a wolf can send him into a small panic.

Appearance:
Nin is noticeably shorter than most other rabbits. His legs are shorter and thicker than other’s as well, but they actually well muscled, and can easily propel Nin forward at high speeds. This hidden speed and flexibility is his greatest asset, making him a master at escape and sudden attacks. His small, round appearance makes him look almost adorable, which doesn’t really help his self image much.

Personality:
Despite first appearances, Nin is actually a rather friendly rabbit. He enjoys being around others, but dislikes the responsibility of keeping relationships. He’ll hang out with the group, but rarely participates. This distance isn’t helped by his self-centered nature. He thinks of himself first, his friends second (if they’re lucky) and everyone else last. No one command his full respect.
His self-focused life does not exclude him from feeling lonely and wanting companionship, though. On most days he’s perfectly content with hanging with himself and doing his own thing, but when things start going wrong, his lonely existence really starts to crush him. He’s not very good at hiding his emotions, and to avoid appearing weak, he often goes through extra effort to avoid others. This is a rather hellish cycle that usually ends in a fight. This has attributed greatly to painting him as a tough, hotheaded rabbit. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Ninja also has a small fascination with the stars. When feeling down, he likes to sit outside at night and simply watch the sky. He often asks questions to the stars, and waits in hopes of some kind of sign as an answer.

Skills:
-Flexibility
Nin can twist and turn his body in amazing ways. He’s an expert at slipping through small holes and holding awkward positions. This, along with his speed, makes him hard to catch. When faced with an attack from another rabbit, though, he’s often at a disadvantage. His most common tactic is dodging, and then quickly striking with his feet before his opponent can react.

Those short legs can move fast. He’s not too much of a distance runner, but he’s a great sprinter. It’s saved his fluffy tail more than once.
-Disarming appearance
It’s not so much his looks are great, but that his small, cute appearance often throws others off. You don’t expect the short, fluffy rabbit to be the one to bite a hole in your ear.


History:
Nin's early life was very simple and pleasant. He was born into a small warren, consisting mostly of his own mother's children. Born with the name Starburst, Nin enjoyed his time as a carefree youngster, growing fluffy and fat. He became very attached to one of his three older sisters, Hedge, and followed her everywhere he could. A few months into his life, though, their den was consumed in a brush fire. Hedge quickly ushered her favorite brother out of harm's way, and threw herself back into danger to save the rest of her family. In the end, the only survivors were Nin, his mother, and his distant elder sister Foxbite.
Nin's mother did her best to keep them all safe. She found a safe place in a collection of brambles near a wolf den, and kept constant watch for any signs of danger. The stress wore her down quickly, and it was obvious to the siblings how quickly she was fading. Hoping to help, Nin began to develop his own version of fighting, promising his mother he'd keep them all safe. She died after escaping a pack of wolves, her heart simply unable to deal with her fear.
Foxbite was rather put-out, realizing she would have to deal with Nin by herself. He followed her lovingly for a few days, before Foxbite brought him near the edge of wolf territory. She told him to stay put so she could negotiate their way into to the main road. Obediently he remained in place, watching her move off over the horizon. She never returned for him that day, and, desperate, Nin even risked sleeping very obviously out in the open that night. He spent sleepless hours asking the stars questions like he used to ask Hedge, before finally drifting to sleep.
A small cat patrol found him and thought him dead at first. When he opened his eyes and stared wordlessly at them, they thought him instead defective and decided to put him out of his misery. Their leader was very surprised when Nin fought back harshly, kicking and clawing for all he was worth. While being no match for the older and more experienced warriors, he made enough of an impression to be brought back to the Charm pride. After being given his charm, he was made to promise to become an patrolmen when he was older. Since he refused to tell them his real name, he was given the nickname Ninja, mostly because of good acrobatic skills. He's now used it so long that he's almost forgotten his old name, but still keeps it in mind in case Foxbite ever returns for him.
Nin grew up to be a small but mighty, performing his duties well enough to make up for his... unfortunate appearance a little. He's spent the last one and a half years simply following orders and kicking tail, waiting patiently for the day someone saves him like Hedge did.
